Things writers like to do at social events:
-Not go to them
-Judge people by their bookshelf
-Find a dog or cat and hang out with them
-Avoid being asked about their writing
-Avoid people in general
-Find the other writer whose also avoiding people and hang out with them
Misconceptions people have about writers:
-We're good at writing
-Writing relieves stress and anxiety
-If you're not a published best selling author in a year then you're failing
-You have to be naturally good at writing to be a successful writer
Found out today my SIL has gone full-out batshit Q. We wondered, but, yep. And guess what she's getting her kid for his 16th birthday? 3 guesses. Nah, 1 guess. Anyone? Anyone? Yeah. Sickening. Needless to say, she and her family are not welcome in our house.
What some readers call fast paced, others call rushed.
Relatable characters? Annoying.
Action packed? Messy & confusing.
Beautiful world building? Boring.
You can’t please everyone.
Write the book you want to write. Write it to the best of your ability.
Then set it free.
I couldn't agree with this more! To reiterate... #writer peeps, write the book YOU want to write (and the book you want to read).
