I'm a little cranky these days because it’s winter, it gets dark early, and I can't gather with friends. This is when I crave a big bowl of stew or a cheesy baked pasta. With my Baked Rigatoni with Lamb Ragù, I don’t have to choose because it’s both!
Pomegranate Gimlets from my new book Modern Comfort Food are the perfect holiday cocktail! (And the book makes a great gift!) How crazy is this?? Amazon is sold out but this is a great time to support your local bookseller! #happyholidays #staysafe
Weekend Project! My Boston Cream Pie takes a little time to make but I’ve spent more than six years (I’m not kidding!) working on the recipe so it would come out perfectly every time – your family won’t believe you made this cake yourself!
This Pumpkin Flan with Maple Caramel has all the flavors of a good pumpkin pie but it’s so much more special! You can make it a day ahead and the best part? No pie crust to obsess about! #microthanksgiving #staysafe #cookingforjeffrey
Tomorrow (Sunday!) at noon on Food Network, I’m making the best Thanksgiving side dishes and I’ve invited some incredible chefs to cook with me! Hope you can watch!

Instead of mashed potatoes, this year I’m making a potato dish with a twist — Potato-Fennel Gratin. It’s rich and creamy and infused with onions, fennel, and Gruyère cheese — Yum! You can assemble it early in the day and bake it before dinner.
For my Micro Thanksgiving this year (4 people!), I’m making my Herb & Apple Bread Pudding. Instead of stuffing the turkey which can dry it out, this savory bread pudding bakes separately but has all the flavor of traditional stuffing!
I’m cooking a week of SIDES for a Micro Thanksgiving this year starting with Haricots Verts with Hazelnuts & Dill. I’m doing the classics but with a modern twist. It may be a different Thanksgiving this year but it will still be delicious!!
Entertaining outdoors has been such a surprise pleasure during these difficult times. As the weather turns chilly, I’ve done several things to make sure we can continue the fun. Click on the link for my tips plus easy menus for entertaining outside!
Applesauce Cake is a classic recipe but mine has a modern twist - bourbon soaked raisins AND bourbon cream cheese frosting! And who doesn’t need more cream cheese frosting right now?? #moderncomfortfood
Black & White Cookies are one of my all-time favorite treats because they’re more like decadent, snack-sized cakes. The best part is that they are glazed with both chocolate AND vanilla icing so you don’t have to choose. Modern Comfort out Oct 6th!
My new book Modern Comfort Food will be available on OCTOBER 6th and I’m going on tour - VIRTUALLY!! This means you can come to the event in your pj's and join me with Jennifer Garner in LA, or Sam Sifton in NYC without ever going through airport security!
On 9/11, many people found themselves trapped at the end of Manhattan with nowhere to go. This amazing short film by Eddie Rosenstein, narrated by Tom Hanks, documents how Americans risked their lives to save people they’d never met. #September11th
Lobster 🦞 Pot Pie is the perfect holiday dinner - it’s an entire meal in one baking dish and it’s scrumptious! Have a happy, healthy, and safe Labor Day weekend everyone! #treatyourself
Cheddar Corn Chowder is the perfect late summer lunch when it’s a little chilly outside and the corn is still delicious. Easy to make and so satisfying! #treatyourself #thebarefootcontessacookbook
Women fought so hard for the right to vote. They even wrote cookbooks to raise money for the movement! I made Peach Sherbet from one of these books to celebrate #WomensEqualityDay. Please honor those brave women by voting on Nov. 3rd!
It’s the height of tomato season and this Salmorejo from my new book is the perfect way to use all those delicious ripe tomatoes from the farm stand. Modern Comfort Food is available Oct 6 but you can pre-order the book wherever books are sold!
Peach season is in full swing and I just made the most delicious Perfect Peach Pie! Instead of using lemon juice, as most recipes recommend, I used orange zest and orange juice and it made the peaches taste ... how shall I say? … peachier!!
Today in his wonderful @nytimes newsletter, @samsifton wrote, “There are days these days when it seems heroic just to fry an egg and eat it on toast.” Boy, can I relate to that! Fortunately, I always have an Avocado Toast up my sleeve.
