Today is my 1000th day as America’s 70th Secretary of State. Each one has been a privilege to serve the American people. So many kind words from all across our nation – thank you all for your support and kindness. The Lord is watching over America and always will be.
As I have said from day one, it has been an honor to serve with the world’s finest diplomatic corps. I want to thank all the employees of @StateDept who have answered the call and executed our mission on behalf of the American people over the past four years.
Susan and I will never forget our church, family and friends back in Kansas without whom none of this would have been possible. Thank you Kansas!
The duty to secure America First never ends.
In 26 hours, you’ll only be able to follow me @mikepompeo. Serving as your Secretary of State has been a privilege and an honor. I’m immensely proud of the achievements we’ve had in the past four years.
We moved past foreign policy elites peddling the same old failed ideas, on the left and the right. Not popular in the Swamp but it produced great results, like the #AbrahamAccords.
The U.S. is stronger when we acknowledge the failings of international institutions like @UN and try to fix them. Multilateralism for multilateralism's sake doesn't help anyone but bureaucrats, globalists, and lawyers.
Maybe the despots and authoritarians should form PRCVIDPRK and meet once a year to figure out how to further destroy their economies and deny liberty to their people? (Hint: first meeting in Tehran, second in Caracas, third meeting in Pyongyang).
Remember BRICS? Well, thanks to @jairbolsonaro and @narendramodi the B and the I both get that the C and the R are threats to their people.
It was inspiring to speak with Venezuelan Interim President @jguaido yesterday and to reaffirm our unwavering support for the champions of democracy in Venezuela.
Example: The Chinese Communist Party is not our friend.
Example: You can't appease dictators like the ones running Venezuela and Cuba. That way danger lies, for both America and the people of those nations.
Example: There are not "moderates" running the Islamic Republic of Iran. "Moderates" don't give a home base to al-Qa'ida.
Can't make sound policy without being honest about the threats we face.
These acts are an affront to the Chinese people and to civilized nations everywhere. The People's Republic of China and the CCP must be held to account.
I have determined that the People’s Republic of China is committing genocide and crimes against humanity in Xinjiang, China, targeting Uyghur Muslims and members of other ethnic and religious minority groups.
I will never stop fighting for America First, even after my time as Secretary of State. There is always more work to be done and I look forward to continuing to share and engage with you on what's next. If you haven't already, please be sure to follow me @mikepompeo.
